Job Description - District Medical Director - Urgent Care - Maine

At ConvenientMD, we’re on a mission to make good health more convenient for all – working to improve how patients and providers experience healthcare in New England. To support this belief, we’re building a team of dedicated professionals who genuinely care about improving lives, are passionate about work that can make a difference, and are driven to learn from one another.

The Opportunity

As the District Medical Director for Maine, you will serve as a key clinical leader responsible for driving clinical excellence, provider engagement, and district performance across our urgent care locations. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and partnering closely with the District Director of Operations (DO), you will help align clinical strategy with operational execution, ensuring our clinics consistently deliver high-quality, efficient, and value-based care. In this role, you will support and mentor providers, strengthen clinical standards, and use performance data to guide improvements that enhance both patient outcomes and team success.

This opportunity is ideal for a mission-driven healthcare professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional care while building strong, collaborative teams. As a visible and trusted leader, you will play an important role in shaping the provider experience, supporting professional development, and ensuring our clinics continue to provide accessible, patient-centered care to the communities we serve across Maine.

Your Impact

  • District Leadership and Performance:

    • Collaborate with the DO to achieve clinical and operational goals.

    • Analyze key performance metrics and develop action plans to enhance outcomes and efficiency.

    • Report regularly on district performance to leadership.

  • Team Development:

    • Support and mentor providers, fostering a culture of growth and accountability.

    • Actively participate in recruiting, onboarding, and performance reviews for providers.

    • Create a positive, inclusive environment to retain top talent.

    • Regularly visit clinics to support teams, resolve challenges, and identify training needs.

  • Clinical Excellence:

    • Conduct provider chart audits and guide improvement plans.

    • Ensure compliance with clinical policies, licensing, and state regulations.

    • Lead training sessions to enhance provider skills and knowledge.

    • Review and approve medical treatments, lab requests, and off-formulary prescriptions.

  • Communication and Engagement:

    • Maintain open communication with providers and ensure updates on policies and practices.

    • Serve as a spokesperson for ConvenientMD within the medical community.

    • Participate in shared weekend on-call schedules and regular clinic visits

Who You Are

  • Experienced urgent care or emergency room clinician: Licensed MD, DO, PA, or NP with at least 5 years of urgent care or emergency room experience, confident treating patients of all ages and managing a wide range of acute conditions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative clinical leader: Partners effectively with operational leaders and fellow providers to drive strong clinical outcomes, align teams around shared goals, and support district performance.

  • Provider mentor and coach: Passionate about developing others, providing thoughtful feedback, conducting chart reviews, and supporting providers in strengthening both clinical care and documentation.

  • Proactive and confident communicator (written and verbal): Foreshadows and elevates concerns as they arise, unafraid of professional directness both with colleagues and patients.

  • Data-driven decision maker: Comfortable analyzing KPIs, operational metrics, and clinical performance data to identify trends and implement improvement plans that strengthen quality and efficiency.

  • Champion of clinical excellence: Deeply knowledgeable about clinical best practices, compliance standards, and value-based care, ensuring providers deliver safe, consistent, high-quality care.

  • Visible and engaged leader: Enjoys being present in clinics, building strong relationships with providers, identifying training opportunities, and supporting teams in real time.

  • Operationally savvy healthcare professional: Understands the intersection of clinical care, coding, documentation, and clinic operations, ensuring teams operate efficiently while maintaining high standards.

  • Tech-comfortable and adaptable: Confident using tools such as Microsoft Office, PowerBI, and EMR systems like DocuTAP to review data, communicate insights, and support operational and clinical improvements.
