Job Description - Division Chief, Vascular Surgery & System Chief, Vascular Services

This is an exciting opportunity to expand the Division of Vascular Surgery and to further develop vascular services across the M Health Fairview system, within a vibrant and collaborative surgery department that combines excellent clinical care and scientific discovery with translational research in an exceptional educational and training environment. It is with great anticipation that the Department of Surgery is waiting to receive word of their elevation to Top 10 in NIH funding in 2023.The University of Minnesota Medical School is a key stakeholder in the expanded partnership with M Health Fairview, combining the University’s deep history of clinical innovation and training with Fairview’s extensive roots in community medicine.
The Opportunity
The new Division Chief

of Vascular Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School & Chief of Vascular Services for M Health Fairview

will emphasize building, leading, growing, and connecting the clinical and research enterprises of the Division, ultimately fostering an environment that promotes academic productivity, prominence and diversity, growing clinical volumes, improving outcomes, and bringing national distinction to the University of Minnesota.
The Ideal Candidate
The Division Chief must be a compelling, innovative leader, and a talented board-certified vascular surgeon, with demonstrated strengths of resilience, conflict resolution, and integrity. Importantly, the Division Chief must be a strong advocate for balancing the academic, educational, and clinical missions of the Division, Department, and Institutions.
The Organization
The Division of Vascular Surgery provides expertise in open and endovascular surgery, and UMN's program for endovascular repair of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms is rapidly expanding. The robust Department of Surgery is recognized as one of the premier transplantation, cardiothoracic, colorectal and bariatric programs in the country and has existing collaborations with a wide network of area hospitals for vascular surgery. The partnership between the UMN, University of Minnesota Physicians and Fairview Health Services brings together the University of Minnesota Medical Center, University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital and Fairview’s other 11 hospitals, 56 primary care clinics and other services into a $6B shared care delivery system united under the brand, M Health Fairview.
The Region
The fast-growing Minneapolis-St. Paul area is renowned for its cultural and recreational opportunities and beautiful natural surroundings.Minneapolis, with 22 lakes within its city limits, has one of the most extensive public park systems in the U.S.; many connected by the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway with 51 miles of paved trails that wrap around lakes and parkways, showcasing parks, gardens, historical sites, beaches, golf courses and diverse neighborhoods.
