The Divisional Director of Experience and Memory Care is a visionary leader responsible for driving strategy, operational excellence, team member engagement and person-centered programming across all communities. This position oversees both Resident Experience teams and Memory Care Directors (MCDs), fostering integrated, regulatory-compliant, and outcomes-driven programming that enhances the quality of life for all residents—especially those living with cognitive change.
This leader will serve as a key collaborator across Wellness, Culinary, Sales, and Operations teams to ensure a seamless, enriching, and supportive experience for residents, families and team members.
· Lead and support Resident Experience and Memory Care Directors across multiple communities to implement consistent, high-quality engagement and care practices.
· Establish divisional goals, policies, and performance standards in alignment with ESL’s mission and brand standards.
· Drive innovation through technology, collaborative partnerships, engagement strategies, personalized programming, and resident lifestyle offerings that meet evolving organizational needs and expectations.
· Partner with Executive Directors and Operations Team to evaluate community programs, vendor partners including entertainers, volunteers, religious professionals and community outreach opportunities.
· Oversee development and implementation of robust engagement calendars, inclusive of holistic cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellness domains.
· Promote system and platforms optimization for scheduling, publishing, and tracking resident participation.
· Establish and manage Transportation program to support resident medical and recreational needs.
· Develop meaningful group and one-on-one activities tailored to residents’ personal interests, background, and abilities.
· Support strategic partnerships for onsite and community-wide events, entertainment, and volunteer programs.
· Serve as a thought leader and support resource for MCDs in creating safe, dignified, and therapeutic environments for residents living with dementia.
· Lead best-practice implementation for daily routines, staffing structures, behavior support, environmental design, and programming tailored to memory support.
· Conduct neighborhood audits, support with regulatory preparedness, and ensure compliance with state-specific dementia care guidelines.
· Recruit, onboard, and coach leaders in Resident Experience and Memory Care roles to foster high-performing, compassionate teams.
· Responsible for staffing and labor management of experience and memory care partners.
· Provide ongoing education and mentorship on topics including dementia care, engagement science, therapeutic programming, regulatory expectations, and systems proficiency.
· Conduct performance evaluations, succession planning, and team development initiatives.
· Maintain and ensure team proficiency in key operational platforms: PCC, Sherpa, UKG, Go Icon, OnShift, SharePoint, and eMenu.
· Collaborate with Culinary and Housekeeping teams to ensure resident care plans and environmental standards align with safety, dietary, and personal preferences.
· Partner with Sales and Marketing to integrate programming and memory care positioning into tours and community storytelling.
· Design and facilitate family education programs on dementia care and meaningful connection.
· Support community integration of intergenerational programs, spiritual care, and volunteer services that enhance resident and family experience.
· Serve as an escalation point and advocate for family needs and expectations across the division.
· Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Human Services, Gerontology, or related field preferred.
· Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in senior living, preferably in both Memory Care and Resident Engagement.
· Deep understanding of regulatory requirements across states, cognitive aging and dementia care.
· Proven ability to build and lead cross-functional teams in a multi-site environment.
· Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and senior living platforms (PCC, LifeLoop, Sherpa, etc.).
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally as needed.
· Demonstrate visionary leadership with the ability to inspire and influence across disciplines.
· Deliver measurable outcomes in resident satisfaction, engagement participation, team development, and quality standards.
· Build a culture of creativity, compassion, inclusion, and operational excellence.
· Represent ESL values in all interactions—with team members, residents, families, and external partners.
· Maintain flexibility to support communities during weekends, evenings, and emergent needs.
