DME & CASTING/SPLINTING COORDINATOR

Job details: Flagstaff Bone and Joint is hiring for a DME, Casting, and Splinting Coordinator. This position is a full-time position in our high-volume orthopedic and spine clinic. Experience in DME preferred, and willing to pursue an AAOE certification in Casting, Splinting and soft goods. 

Employment Status: Full-time 

Shift & Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

• Fitting patients as needed for Durable Medical Equipment.

• Casting and splinting patients as instructed by MD’s and PA’s as needed.

• Instruct patients regarding use of orthopedic bracing products and other orthopedic devices.

• Check patient insurance benefits for orthopedic products.

• Ordering of DME products and supplies, maintaining inventory, and reconciling to make sure all DME items are billed properly.

• Communicate patient questions or concerns regarding orthopedic products to providers and staff.

• Communicate and coordinate with DME product representatives and vendors.

• Obtain AAOE Casting and Splinting certification.

· Use of Vision (inventory system).

· Maintain and update DME order sets in Athena as needed.

· Complete patient cases & tasks

· Assist with surgical DME periodically

· Complete special projects as assigned

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS: 

• Broad-based anatomy and terminology knowledge
• Specific medical knowledge related to orthopedics, thorough understanding of our physicians’ practices and patient care standards
• Familiarity with orthopedic surgical procedures
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt and respond to multiple demands
• Have high standards for patient safety and care 
• Learn and work at an efficient and fast pace
• Preferred understanding of each of the touchpoints within a patient's journey
• Knowledge of HIPAA Guidelines
• Computer knowledge, including Windows-based programs - EMR/EHR experience preferred
