Job Description - DME/Brace Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: Effectively carry out the physician's treatment by properly fitting and educating patients on durable orthopedic medical equipment (DME).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide education to patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcome for products as indicated by the physician's instructions and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Educate patients in regard to insurance plans and provisions, financial responsibility, and collection of patient portions.
  • Ensure that all necessary documentation is obtained as it relates to payer requirements, standard operating procedures, and any other compliance requirements.
  • Comply with all elements of HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and other required programs.

HOURS:

  • Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM.
  • One weekend shift per month

EDUCATION

  • High school Diploma or GED required.
  • On-the-job training is available to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in a role.

EXPERIENCE

  • Two years of medical experience preferred.
  • Experience with the application of durable medical equipment (DME) preferred but not required.
