Job Description

The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) is a key outreach hub within the College of Science, dedicated to inspiring curiosity and providing hands-on science education for K–12 students and the broader community. The Coordinator works closely with the Director to manage programs, support curriculum development, engage with campus and community partners, and ensure the smooth operation of the Center. 

This role requires a creative, adaptable, and organized individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys working with students, families, and educators. The Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for parents, teachers, and administrators and plays an essential role in the success of the DNA Learning Center’s mission to inspire future scientists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and manage year-round programming, including field trips, summer camps, and workshops.
  • Oversee logistics for summer and overnight camps, including meal planning, scheduling non-lab activities, check-in/check-out procedures, waiver management, T-shirt ordering, parking, and daily communications.
  • Manage participant records, invoices, waivers, emergency contacts, and payments.
  • Coordinate with campus partners such as dining services, museums, and recreation facilities.
  • Assist in the lab with teaching, curriculum support, and classroom management.
  • Develop and maintain social media content, email campaigns, and promotional materials.
  • Represent the DNA Learning Center at campus, community, and partner events, occasionally as the sole representative.
  • Gather feedback from participants, families, and teachers to improve programming.
  • Track outreach metrics and contribute to reporting and evaluation efforts.
  • Work with the Director to establish and communicate policies related to financial assistance to ensure broad access to programming.
  • Compile and maintain summary statistics and evaluation reports.
  • Provide administrative support and participate in special projects and College-wide initiatives as assigned.

This is a limited-term position, lasting one year from the date of hire. The role is 30 hours per week and may require occasional evening and weekend hours, especially during summer programming.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree, or completion of up to 3 years of college or technical school.
  • 1–2 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms.Ability to work independently and represent the Center professionally.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills as needed.
  • Schedule flexibility, particularly in the summer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Background in science education, business administration, or working with K–12 students.
  • Experience developing or delivering curriculum and comfort with hands-on teaching.
