The Opportunity
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Dock Lead to join our team in Yuma. In this role, you will work alongside the warehouse team while serving as a go-to resource for direction, support, and coordination when needed. The Dock Lead helps ensure smooth operations by stepping in to lead during shift transitions, peak periods, or when the Service Center Manager is unavailable. This position blends hands-on dock work with leadership support responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead Support: Step in to provide direction to dock workers as needed, especially during shift transitions, high-volume periods, or when leadership is unavailable.
- Operational Execution: Assist with loading/unloading trailers using a sit-down propane forklift or other equipment in compliance with DOT and safety regulations.
- Workflow Coordination: Help prioritize workload and dock flow to ensure on-time departures and accurate trailer loads.
- Freight Quality Control: Check freight for accuracy and damage; help ensure freight is handled properly and securely.
- Documentation: Assist in verifying and maintaining shipping/receiving documentation and inventory accuracy.
- Safety Advocacy: Promote a safe work environment by modeling correct practices and reminding team members of safety protocols when necessary.
- Communication: Act as a point of contact between the dock team and Service Center Manager for updates, issues, and operational needs.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as needed to support the warehouse and ensure efficient dock operations.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a dock or warehouse setting
- Experience operating forklifts and material handling equipment
- Ability to take initiative and lead by example in a hands-on environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset with flexibility to support shifting priorities
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $19.00 - 20.00, based on experience and qualifications
- Classification: Non-Exempt; subject to all applicable state and federal labor laws
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds consistently
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stretch, and reach throughout the shift
- Capable of working in varied weather conditions in dock/loading areas
- Must be able to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other equipment as needed
