Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate opportunity for a Dock Operator, located at the Croswell Factory, 159 S. Howard St., Croswell, MI 48422.

 

 

JOB SUMMARY


Under general supervision, employees are responsible for the proper loading, unloading, and shipping of product and materials. Computer skills required to access inventories, reports, and orders.  Employees must work with all production shifts as teams, to maintain product flow, satisfy customer requirements, and SQF objectives.


 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Perform proper inspection of box trucks and prepare necessary shipping paperwork, bill of ladings, certificates of analysis, and export papers for each shipment.

  • Transfer truck, must be able to operate safely and efficiently.

  • Responsible, along with the Warehouse Manager for making sure that the load numbers and other information received from the haulers are correct.

  • Insure that the information provided to the loaders is correct.

  • Verify RFID tags are accurate and pallets are tagged correctly.

  • Verify the correct product is loaded on each truck, in the correct amounts and ensure positive product release.  Provide load weight to Security Staff for the final check at the scale.

  • Maintain good relations with drivers, dispatchers, railroad agents, and other outside contractors, including checking of order numbers, providing directions to our facility and dealing with these people in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.

  • Maintain records of received shipments, including packing materials, consumables (paper, glue, and ink), starch, and sugar received from other locations along with sugar returned from the customer.

  • Pull wrapped pallets from the conveyors and place in proper storage areas when needed.  Pull/Transfer product from one warehouse to another.

  • Perform other duties including but not limited to such items as:  receiving and unloading various factory or warehouse supplies, counting product or supplies, maintaining fork truck and warehouse cleanliness, organizing and repairing damaged product.

  • Able to work in different weather conditions, while maintaining proper attire for seasonal weather situations.

  • Repetitive lifting or carrying items up to 40-50 lbs.

  • Repetitive lifting above 50 pounds shall be accomplished with the assistance of another employee or the the use of a mechanical lifting device.



 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS



  • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have valid fork-truck license and maintain a safe driving record.

  • Previous lift-truck experience is preferred.

  • Qualify for MIOSHA Powered Industrial Truck License.

  • Ability to operate lift truck safely in a product warehouse environment and within established loading perimeters.

  • Computer Skills/Background (RFID).

  • Ability to repair/identify damaged product

  • Must have knowledge of computers and good keyboarding skills.
