Dock Worker

The Dock Worker is responsible for the loading and unloading of finished product onto trailers for shipping to customers. The Dock Worker must have a complete knowledge of proper loading and shipping procedures to ensure an on-time delivery with no damage to the product. Tasks involve preparation of product for shipping, inputting information into the computer system, and assisting with loading of product onto semi-trailers both manually, with pallet jacks and with forklift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and power rollers to move products
2. Inspect and verify the quantity and condition of product
3. Sort and stack product according to destination, size, or weight
4. Secure the product to prevent damage or loss
5. Follow safety rules and regulations to avoid accidents or injuries
6. Communicate with co-workers, supervisor and team lead to coordinate work activities and report problems
7. Keep track of inventory through scanning system to ensure quantity and on time shipments

1. Ability to move product using proper equipment and techniques
2. Ability to read and follow instructions, labels and other documentation to ship product
3. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
4. Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
5. Understanding of work instructions, trailer layouts and labels
