Job Description - Dog Daycare & Boarding Operations Manager

SEARCHABLE JOB TITLE:

Operations Manager – Hospitality & Service | $70,500–$75,000

JOB DESCRIPTION:

You Know How to Manage a Rush.

We Can Teach You the Dog Part.

A call-out leaves you short-staffed.

Three employees need direction at the same time.

A customer has a problem that needs to be solved now.

Something didn't get done on the previous shift.

You're watching labor, maintaining standards, coaching employees, handling the unexpected—and somehow keeping the operation moving.

Sound familiar?

If you've successfully managed a busy restaurant, hospitality business, or other high-volume service operation, you may already have much of the experience we're looking for.

The Wags Club is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to help lead the day-to-day operation of our luxury dog daycare and boarding resort in West Los Angeles.

$70,500–$75,000 annual salary, depending on experience, plus monthly performance bonus.

Professional pet-care experience is not required.

We can teach you how our business cares for dogs.

We're looking for someone who already knows how to manage people and make a busy operation work.

What We Offer

• $70,500–$75,000 annual salary, depending on experience
• Monthly performance bonus when targets are met
• Medical, dental, and vision benefits
• Bring your dog to work at no cost
• A key leadership role with real day-to-day authority and responsibility
• The opportunity to improve systems and develop employees
• Advancement opportunities as The Wags Club grows

The Role

Think of this as the operational partner to our General Manager.

The General Manager oversees the location as a whole. You'll be deeply involved in what happens throughout the resort every day—employees, staffing, workflow, client service, dog care, training, cleanliness, communication, and the countless details that determine whether an operation actually works.

If you've managed restaurants, much of this will feel surprisingly familiar.

Instead of a kitchen, dining room, bar, hosts, servers, and bussers, you'll be learning the operational areas of a dog daycare and boarding resort.

But the management fundamentals don't change.

You'll:

• Oversee day-to-day resort operations
• Lead employees, Team Leads, and supervisory staff
• Make staffing and workflow decisions
• Coach, train, develop, and hold employees accountable
• Help onboard and develop new employees
• Identify operational problems and implement practical solutions
• Maintain high standards for service, cleanliness, safety, and organization
• Resolve client concerns professionally
• Oversee Front Office and dog-care operations
• Support sales and revenue goals
• Manage inventory and ordering
• Oversee cash handling and transactions
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers
• Make day-to-day operational decisions independently
• Step in wherever management involvement is needed to keep the operation running

We're Interested in the Manager Behind the Résumé

We're especially interested in someone who has been the person others turn to when a shift starts going sideways.

Someone who can walk into an operation and quickly see what's working and what isn't.

Someone who knows the difference between an employee who needs training, one who needs coaching, and one who needs accountability.

Someone who can be friendly and approachable without being afraid to manage.

And someone who doesn't wait for the General Manager to identify every problem and provide every solution.

Strong candidates will have:

• Significant restaurant, hospitality, service, or operations management experience
• Direct employee-supervision experience
• Experience managing busy, high-volume operations
• Strong training, coaching, and accountability skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving ability
• Confidence handling difficult employee and customer conversations
• Strong judgment and initiative
• The ability to remain calm when plans change quickly
• Comfort working as a strong second-in-command
• Genuine interest in learning professional dog care

Yes, It's a Dog Resort.

And yes, you'll need to become comfortable around a lot of dogs.

You'll learn our daycare, boarding, feeding, medication, grooming, and safety operations so you can effectively manage the employees responsible for them.

This is a hands-on management position. You'll need to understand the operation from the inside and occasionally step in when circumstances require it.

But we aren't hiring you to become a dog attendant.

We're hiring you to become an excellent Operations Manager who understands how the entire resort works.

The 24-Hour Responsibility

The Wags Club operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our overnight team cares for boarding dogs after our doors close, and serious situations can occasionally require management attention outside normal working hours.

If you've managed a restaurant or other operation where a staffing problem, alarm, equipment failure, or serious employee issue didn't necessarily respect your scheduled hours, you probably understand the distinction.

We're not looking for someone to be working around the clock.

We are looking for a manager who understands the responsibility that comes with helping lead a 24-hour operation.

Ready to Trade the Dinner Rush for Something Different?

If you've built strong management skills in restaurants, hospitality, or another high-volume service business and you're ready to see how far those skills can take you in an entirely different industry, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply through this listing with your resume.

Professional pet-care experience is not required. Strong management experience is.
