Job Description - Domestic Freight Sales Executive

Summary:

Our client is seeking a Domestic Freight Sales Executive to join their team! Based in California's agricultural center, this role focuses on driving business growth by building strong relationships with growers and shippers while delivering timely, efficient solutions for temperature-sensitive produce freight. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple customer needs with strong sales skills and industry knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Source and develop new business within the fresh produce and perishable freight sectors

  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with growers, shippers, and supply chain partners

  • Conduct cold and warm outreach via calls, emails, and customer visits to generate opportunities

  • Understand temperature-controlled freight complexities and produce seasonality to provide relevant shipping solutions

  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and RFPs

  • Collaborate with Sales and Operations for accurate quoting, booking, and timely delivery

  • Track shipments and maintain proactive communication with customers throughout delivery

  • Input activity into CRM, manage sales pipeline and tracking, and ensure smooth handoff to internal teams

  • Meet or exceed sales and outreach activity goals (calls, visits, follow-ups)

  • Stay informed on industry trends, market shifts, and produce seasons impacting freight needs

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in freight brokerage, sales, or account management (produce freight preferred)

  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with effective prioritization

  • Comfortable using CRM tools and Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to work independently and thrive under deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and logistics platforms
  • Familiarity with refrigerated and time-sensitive shipments is a strong plus
