Doorman Responsibilities
Guest Greeting & Hospitality
- Welcome guests warmly as they arrive and set the tone for the experience.
- Offer basic guidance, answer quick questions, and maintain a professional and approachable presence.
ID Verification
- Check guest IDs to ensure all patrons entering are at least 21 years old.
- Spot obvious fake IDs and follow company protocol for refusal of entry.
- Escalate any concerns to a floor manager immediately.
Entry Flow & Line Management
- Manage the line efficiently and maintain smooth, organized entry for guests.
- Communicate wait times, reservation expectations, and capacity limits clearly and politely.
- Ensure guests enter safely and do not block walkways, exits, or the host stand.
Dress Code & House Policy Awareness
- Inform guests of the lounge’s dress code and policies before they enter.
- Enforce these standards respectfully and consistently.
- Notify management if a guest disputes a policy.
Crowd Observation (Non-Security)
- Maintain general awareness of guest behavior near the entrance and in immediate view.
- Identify and flag potential issues early for a manager to handle.
- The doorman does not physically intervene or remove guests — all escalations go to management or licensed security.
Support for the Front-of-House Team
- Communicate with hosts, managers, and bartenders when capacity limits are reached.
- Assist with controlling entry during private events or large reservations.
- Provide quick updates to the team about crowd flow or guest trends.
Doorman Skills & Qualifications
- Professional, friendly demeanor with strong communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, respectful, and consistent when enforcing house policies.
- Comfortable standing for long periods and managing high-traffic environments.
- Sharp attention to detail — especially with IDs, dress code adherence, and capacity considerations.
- Strong situational awareness with the ability to recognize potential issues and escalate appropriately.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
Doorman Education & Training
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- No security license required — this role does not perform security or physical removal duties.
- Training provided for ID verification, house policies, guest flow, and communication standards.
Requirements
- 1 year of hospitality, nightlife, or customer-facing experience preferred.
- Must be comfortable enforcing policies respectfully and professionally.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with management when issues arise.
- Must be able to remain professional at all times and provide an elevated guest experience from the moment the door opens.
