The Role:J. Blanton Plumbing, one of Chicago’s fastest-growing residential plumbing service companies, is seeking a high-energy, hands-on Door-to-Door Canvassing Manager. This leader will drive our neighborhood outreach efforts by personally canvassing local homeowners while building, training, and coaching a high-performing canvassing team.This is a 50% individual contributor / 50% leadership role. You will be in the field knocking doors every day, generating plumbing service appointments—and you will also be responsible for hiring, developing, and leading a team of canvassing reps to do the same.

Key Responsibilities

Individual Contributor (50%)

  • Knock homeowner doors within assigned territories to introduce J. Blanton Plumbing services.
  • Engage with homeowners, educate them on plumbing health, identify needs, and set service appointments.
  • Follow daily/weekly KPIs including doors knocked, conversations held, appointments set, and close rates.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of activity and appointment details in company CRM.
  • Represent the J. Blanton brand with professionalism, courtesy, and integrity.

Team Leadership & Management (50%)

  • Recruit, interview, and hire new canvassing representatives.
  • Lead field training: teach proper pitch, objection handling, territory strategy, and professionalism.
  • Conduct ongoing coaching, ride-alongs, and performance feedback sessions.
  • Set daily and weekly goals for the team; monitor performance and create improvement plans when needed.
  • Build a positive, accountable culture that rewards effort, consistency, and high performance.
  • Coordinate with operations and sales leadership to ensure appointments are high-quality and timely.
  • Maintain team scheduling, attendance, reporting, and compliance standards.
  • Prior experience in door-to-door sales or high-volume canvassing required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience—training or managing reps strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to motivate others in the field.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Energetic, resilient, and coachable with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Goal-oriented, metrics-driven, and able to enforce standards consistently.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
