Doula / Health Educator I, per diem, Mother/Baby Parent Education, Atlantic Health Morristown Medica

A Doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support to individuals and families during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. This role promotes a positive, safe, and empowering birth or postpartum experience by offering continuous, non-medical support, advocacy, and education. Doulas work collaboratively with families, healthcare providers, and community resources.

• Provide continuous emotional and physical support to clients during labor and childbirth.
• Utilize comfort measures such as positioning, relaxation techniques, breathing support, massage, and reassurance.
• Assist clients and families in understanding birth preferences and provide support in communicating those preferences with the medical team.
• Deliver evidence-based information on pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum recovery to support informed decision-making.
• Facilitate a calm and supportive birthing environment in alignment with patient needs and wishes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions in accordance with organizational standards.
• Adhere to confidentiality, ethical practices, and professional boundaries at all times.
• Flexibility to work variable hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended on-call periods

Required:

1. High school diploma or equivalent 
2. Certification as a birth doula.  Doula from a recognized program  
3. BLS within 6 months of hire

Preferred:

1.  Associate or bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred
2. Experience supporting pregnant or postpartum individuals preferred
3. Personal or volunteer birth/postpartum support experience
