Draftsperson - Summer Engineering Internship -Taunton, MA - Generous Compensation

This position is onsite in Taunton, MA and is only available to students who are currently attending college/university.

Summary: The associate will operate computer aided design software (AutoCAD) to create new and modify existing drawings for packaging machinery. This position works across the organization to support drafting and technical needs. Other work duties may be assigned as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

1. Drafting of mechanical parts according to specific needs for packaging machines using relevant design software (AutoCAD).
2. Develop 3D Models by analyzing prototypes and 2D drawings.
3. Work closely with Manager and Mechanical Engineers to determine assignments and priorities.
4. Work with in-house technical group and machine shop on relevant design specifications.
5. Create design renderings for sales and marketing, including show layouts, machine layouts, package drawings, etc.
6. Document mechanical modifications made in-house and in the field. Work with colleagues to document changes needed for future usage as part of the change management process (updated manuals, etc.).
7. Update and maintain drafting log, engineering request database.
8. Ensure model accuracy and compliance with design drafting standards.
9. Create drawings and models from written sketches and verbal specifications.
10. Handle complex designing and drafting assignments with minimal supervision.

Education/Experience:
1-2 years hands-on experience with Autocad and 3D modeling software. Prior packaging industry experience would be a plus.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical descriptions and specifications, mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Math & Reasoning Ability:

Basic math ability, including geometry and algebra. Ability to define problems, collect data, draw conclusions, interpret instruction and act accordingly.

Computer Skills:
Must be proficient in the use of AutoCAD and MS Office Suite and Windows platform. Autodesk Inventor experience is highly desirable.
