Job Description - Drinking Water Program Specialist
Duties & Responsibilities Reviews in detail the Drinking Water Lab Sample results for the lead content before and after thirty seconds (30 Secs) of flushing; Verifies the Plot Point Plan Survey Maps showing Active Drinking Water Outlets for accuracy Acts as liaison between the Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS), Maintenance and Operations, external agencies and schools to ensure proper sampling work is carried out as per EPA guidelines; Ensures proper reporting of Active Drinking Water Outlets, corresponding barcodes and the lab sample results per the survey data and field conditions; performs on-site quality assurance project inspections; prepare scope of work definitions for corrective action and manage the project to ensure full requirement compliance with terms and conditions of the program Confirms essential Drinking Water Outlets at critical locations like the Health/ Nurse's Office and the Kitchen per the OEHS requirements; coordinates/consults pre-design, design, and construction tasks with design management and execution teams to take projects thru completion Completes reports per the survey and recommends Drinking Water Flushing exemption for every individual school campus ensuring that the lead content is within the prescribed standards; Coordinates with water purveyors regarding the sampling requirements at different schools per the permit amendments; Prepares agenda for the meetings with water purveyors and provides them with individual school's Drinking Water Outlet Report (DWOR), Plot Point Plan and the Sampling Outlet details to make the process of purveyor sampling easier and effective; Follow- up and coordinates in getting sampling results on time from the purveyors and carrying out any remedial work if required after sampling; Publishes all relevant data, communication and water purveyors' correspondence on the Drinking Water data page on Share point for clarity and for tracking progress of the program; Performs quality assurance; attends site walks and coordinates meetings.
Minimum Requirements Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science or construction management OR Candidates without the required bachelor's degree must have at least 10 years of experience. Four of the ten years of the required education may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis. Six (6) or more years of full time paid professional experience Must have experience working with on-site construction management teams as well as with campus administrators, faculty, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications Basic plumbing skills and experience Experience in drinking water treatment and systems. Perform water quality sampling. Effectively communicate and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, administrators, and outside agencies
