Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The driver is responsible for transporting packages from a packaging plant or warehouse location to businesses and residential properties. Their duties include loading parcels into their vehicle, using a navigation system to map their route and delivering parcels to the correct addresses in a timely manner. May also assist as needed in the warehouse.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely operate company vehicles. Exhibit defensive and safe driving techniques. 
• Conduct daily safety inspections and maintain cleanliness of assigned company vehicles. 
• Identify and report maintenance issues to the manager.
• Load/Unload company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, both in the warehouse and at job sites.
• Demonstrate proper furniture handling, working with crew to move/place items into the job site.
• Utilize company documents/devices assuring the most efficient route and schedule.
• Comply with DOT rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
• Report hazardous or dangerous conditions along the route and at job sites, including unusual traffic, road conditions, obstructions, constructions, and mechanical concerns.
• Communicate effectively with fellow drivers and dispatchers to ensure effective fleet operations.
• Assist design installation by performing all installation tasks and procedures such as moving furniture into the jobsite, hanging art and mirrors, vacuuming, sweeping, and making beds. 
• Adhere to all safety standards in all areas of the warehouse and at job sites.
• Comply with all company and customer specific policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 1+ years of delivery experience in a warehouse or retail environment preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail is required so that no damage occurs to either the merchandise or the customer's property.
• Ability to work outside in various climates and weather conditions.
• Licensed and able to drive delivery trucks up to 24' & use basic GPS navigation.
• Available to work a standard 40-hour workweek and overtime when required.
• Strong customer service skills
• Good communication skills. Bilingual preferred (English/ Spanish)
• Clean Motor Vehicle record. No at-fault accidents in the past 18 months
• Must be willing to consent to a drug screening.
• Highly responsible and reliable
• Must be able to work in a team environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires the ability to use department equipment, such as telephones, personal computers, calculators, copiers, fax machines, etc. Position requires frequent use of computers and phones.
• Requires the ability to lift/carry up to 15 to 50 pounds using appropriate body mechanics, and team lift items up to 200 pounds.

Visual, Hearing and Communication Requirements:

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions in English.
• Requires visual acuity to use department equipment, such as telephones, personal computers, calculators, copiers, etc.
• Requires hearing to be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with co-workers, vendors, clients, and others for word-related purposes.

Environmental Conditions:

• This position will require the ability to both works indoors and outdoors year-round.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
• Ability to have a different start time each day that can range from 6:00am - 9:00am, and the ability to work sometimes 12 hours per day.
