Driver

The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with Samaritan Daytop Village to find qualified candidates for a Driver in Staten Island, New York. The Driver is responsible for safely transporting staff, clients, and supplies using agency vehicles. This role supports daily program operations by ensuring clients can access appointments, staff can travel between sites, and supplies are delivered as needed. The Driver follows agency vehicle procedures, maintains vehicle records, and helps ensure vehicles remain safe and operational. This position plays an important role in supporting the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.

This position is located in Staten Island, New York.

• Transport clients to appointments, program sites, and community locations using agency vehicles
• Pick up and deliver supplies from vendors and other locations as needed
• Transport staff to other agency sites as needed
• Research and plan routes for traffic, construction, and weather conditions
• Maintain and update vehicle trip logs daily
• Inspect vehicles before use following the agency vehicle checklist
• Ensure vehicles are cleaned, fueled, and maintained regularly
• Pick up and deliver agency items, including mail, as requested

• Valid New York State Driver’s License required
• High School Diploma or Equivalency required
• At least five (5) years of documented driving experience with a reputable company required
• No statutory or major violations listed on Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required
• Computer literacy required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds required
• Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations, including heavy traffic, construction, and rush-hour conditions required
