Driver Helper

Description

Assist driver with safe and efficient delivery of custom products to customers. Handle freight, follow QA processes, provide for safer delivery with respect to load issues and work demand, as well as attend to the security of the product and equipment at the delivery point.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Other duties may be assigned. A teammate in this position must have the ability to:

• Unload product from truck to customer premises using a ramp and 2-wheeled hand truck.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed with ramp security using supplied safety equipment.
• Inspect equipment to ensure it is in proper operating condition
• Remove/document route returns from trailers and return to designated warehouse location
• Assist driver with dispatch preparation, load security, and delivery equipment loading.
• Ensure high level of security is maintained with equipment and staging area at delivery points.
• Assist driver as ground guide in backing on to public roads and into hazardous areas.
• Place cones at ramp base with each delivery.
• Place cones / reflective triangles / flares due to breakdown or as directed by driver.
• Ensure compliance with QA procedures.
• Assist driver when necessary with route navigation.
• Perform other duties as directed by driver (CDL).
• Must be able to handle any type of product ordered by our customers.

· Ability and willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver ALL products that may be ordered by our customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid Class C driver’s license.
• The ability to read maps, labels, invoices, and manifests.
• Good communication, both verbal and written.
• Mathematical ability specific to adding, subtracting, and verifying quantities of product.
• Excellent customer service skills. Verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight routes 3-4 nights weekly.
• Frequent lifting. Maximum of 100 lbs, routinely lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Use of 2-wheeled hand cart on incline ramp, team carrying up to 300 lbs.
