Drop Technician

Description

Conexon is a rapidly growing company working with Rural Electric Cooperatives to build advanced fiber to the home (FTTH) networks nationwide. We are currently looking for Drop/Splicing Maintenance Technicians to join our Conexon Construct Fiber Splicing division.

Roles and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

1. Maintain project schedule to meet client objectives and Conexon revenue objectives
2. Keep up and communicate maintenance milestones and schedules
3. Evaluate and improve maintenance specifications
4. Ensure Maintenance budget for Conexon project success ( help keep cost down)
5. Assist Maintenance manager and production coordinators with production tracking reports
6. Assist trainees and other onsite maintenance personnel
7. Assist with design and splicing quality control and testing
8. Ensure maintenance paperwork is provided to Conexon Maintenance Manager with daily/weekly production
9. Read, understand, and apply design maps and splicing diagrams
10. Ride out plant and scout for any visible damage
11. Able and willing to test in HUT for damage to Conexon system
12. Evaluate and access warehouse inventory for tracking purposes
13. Splice fiber in taps and closures to reflect the design
14. Place closures and taps as required on pole, pedestals, and in vaults
15. Test continuity of fiber by testing light levels compared to design
16. Mark up maps to reflect as-builts
17. Keep a safe working environment.
18. Drop Duties

• Surveying the work area to assess possible obstructions (water, gas, etc)
• Make contact with customers before starting any work.
• Understanding of locating paint marks
• Installing FTTX drops to customer homes and businesses.
• Assures customer services are restored after trouble ticket dispatch.
• Understanding Conexon builds mapping.
• Operate machinery including trenching, plowing, and bore equipment for burying cable.
• Assigning equipment and material to warehouses, technicians, and customers.
• Assuring proper inventory is maintained at each project location.
• Documenting assignment of inventory within inventory system.
• It is our responsibility as a company to meet timelines that we as a company may fall behind on. Some weekends may be required to meet these timelines. 
• Track footage and materials used per job.
• Understanding to report to management and the owner of the property when any kind of damage occurs. 
• Being sure to follow Conexon’s vehicle policies and guidelines.
• Keeping up with vehicle/equipment maintenance and cleanliness. 
• Understanding of restoration work which will include but not limited to yards, houses, and other personal property of the customers.
• Taking photos to document work site covering all areas. 
• Responding to coordinators quickly when they reach out.
• Understanding of pole/strand drop attachments.

General duties:

1. Assist in promotion and sales of Conexon services
2. Participation in company conference calls when needed
3. Evaluate and advise on FTTH splicing techniques as needed
4. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Highly independent, self-starter, responsible and attentive to detail.
• Ability to work aloft up to 50' in a bucket truck, ladder, and/or climb utility poles.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and complete pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Time Requirement:

• This job will include approximately 75- 100% travel.
• Overtime outside of normal workday hours may be required.
• Able and willing to travel, and work nights/weekends.
• Able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions.
