Drumline Camp Instructor - Antonian College Preparatory High School

Reports to: Band Director

Summary

The Drumline Camp Instructor, under the supervision of the Band Director, leads and instructs students in drumline techniques, rhythms, and performance skills during a camp or workshop setting. Fosters a positive and energetic learning environment to develop participants’ musical abilities and teamwork. 

Responsibilities

• Teach drumline fundamentals including rudiments, sticking patterns, and ensemble coordination
• Conduct rehearsals and provide constructive feedback to campers
• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to skill levels
• Promote teamwork, discipline, and musical expression
• Assist with camp setup, logistics, and performances
• Ensure safety and positive engagement during all activities
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Supports and adheres to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and policies and procedures of the school and  the Archdiocese of San Antonio
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters

Education and Experience

• High School degree or equivalent
• Previous camp instructor experience
• Knowledge of marching band culture and repertoire

Minimum Qualifications

• Proficient in marching percussion and drumline techniques
• Experience teaching or performing in drumlines or percussion ensembles
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to motivate and inspire young musicians
• Reliable, punctual, and enthusiastic

License and Credentials

• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver license
• Valid vehicle insurance
• OVASE background and training sessions
