Job Description - D-Shift 2/2/3 Automation Support Lead

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Under the direction and reporting to the production support supervisor an Automation Support Lead has the responsibility of directing all operations of the process and its personnel. This position requires knowledge of company products, methods, machines, machine set-up, materials, quality standards, safety and company policies.


Perform all necessary preparations for the daily operations based on orders and production schedules. Verifies packaging materials and supplies are available to meet production needs and notifies appropriate personnel when there are material shortages.


Keeps equipment operating by running initial tests. Following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Confirms that all machines and equipment is set-up, mechanically sound and ready for operations. Conduct basic repairs, equipment and process adjustments and process checks to ensure effective set-up and changeovers.


Ensure that all personnel in their area of responsibility are appropriately trained in the processes, machinery, safety guidelines, policies and procedures for their jobs. Supports and trains employees on continuous improvement efforts.


Checks to see that adequate materials and supplies are available to meet production needs and notifies appropriate personnel concerning shortages.


Demonstrate good communication skills. Communicate with production personnel. Communicate with department personnel; specifically during shift exchange. Assign work and communicate instructions.


Respectful of others, listens and responds with empathy to their needs and direct any necessary action when appropriate.


Ensure the quality and quantity of output and maintain effective flow of work.


Maintains a safe work environment and promotes safe work habits.  Complies with the Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines established by Sargento Foods Inc. and within compliance of requirements dictated by the FDA, USDA, WDA, and OSHA. Maintain all production and record systems. Submit reports as required.


Knowledge of SAP, SAVANNA, and MES


Performs material handling and scanning as appropriate.


Follow the Sargento Code of Business and Personal Ethics


Regular and reliable attendance


Actively able to perform essential job functions as determined by Human Resources


Performs all other duties assigned by supervisor.


LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Demonstrating/training for employee on each shift and provide support to manufacturing areas as needed.

  2. Ensuring employees follow company policies regarding Safety, Quality, and GMPs;

  3. Recommending team members for specific assignments based on assessment of individual skills and abilities;

  4. Coordinating and assuring completion of work and recommending evaluation of performance of team members;

  5. Providing direction or advice on work processes, content, issues, and problems.


 


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCAITON AND/OR EXPERIENCE


High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.


LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITIY


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


Forklift certification is required

WORK EVVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a controlled temperature between 32 and 36 Degrees F, equipment vibration (conveyors) and moving mechanical parts. Noise, work heights such as on scaffolding or ladders and moving equipment.  Proper protective equipment is required.
