Job Description

AHRC NYC is seeking to hire an Direct Support Professional (DSP) for their Brooklyn Day Program. The main focus of this role will be to enhance the participant's employability by working on work behavior and employment skills.

Job TypeFull Time

ScheduleMonday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30pm

Pay Rate: Starting at $17/hr ($18 after 6 months)

Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals with disabilities in leading self-directed lives.
  • Enhancing participant employability by instructing work behaviors and skills.
  • Complete daily progress reports.
  • Develop and expand meaningful community opportunities.
  • Work with the supervisor on developing and implementing an effective plan, and will ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations, agency policies, and agency values.

Qualifications

  • Personal and/or Professional experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Experience working with or mentoring people to improve employment skills a plus
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in written form in English.
  • Reasonable flexibility in work hours and ability to respond to the scheduling needs of the individual.
  • Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with program participants, families, staff and community agencies.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
