Summary of Duties

The Early Childhood Director is responsible for developing, staffing, and overseeing the Early Childhood (Infant - 5-year-old) Ministry on Sundays. Develops and implements ministries to support our families with Early Childhood children. Leads volunteers to create and deliver an authentic Christian community experience for kids during weekend services. Works in a supervisory role with the Early Childhood Coordinator to facilitate ministries.

Essential Functions

• Early Childhood Team Leadership
  • Set the vision, mission, and values for Early Childhood ministry that fit the Children's Ministry's DNA and the CTK Network.
  • Supervise and participate with the Early Childhood team to identify, deploy, train, and support team volunteers, encouraging empowerment and ownership. 
  • Oversee the ministry's calendar and budget.
  • Provide focus and leadership to the ministry's outreach, discipleship, and worship.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff, high-capacity leads, and volunteers.
• Sunday Children's Program
  • Lead large group and small group aspects of services when appropriate.
  • Assume the Children’s Ministry Lead role whenever assigned (usually once per month).
  • Responsible for the layout of Early Childhood environments.
• Support and Collaborate with the Children’s Team in all children's ministry events and activities, such as outreach events,  community service events, and Child dedications as directed by the Children's Pastor.
• Children’s Department Collaboration
  • Oversee curriculum purchasing/creation/modification for Early Childhood.
  • Provide leadership for recruiting, volunteer training, and team development for all EC ministries.
  • Provide Administrative Support as needed.
  • Assist with Rock Check-in Administration as required.
  • Implement strategic planning for events and classes for EC families..
• Provide oversight for all Early Childhood spaces, ensuring cleanliness, stocking of supplies, and inviting age-appropriate Decor 

Requirements

• Display an evident and growing love for Jesus
• Leadership to see lives and communities changed by the Holy Spirit
• Experience with handling sensitive issues and maintaining confidentiality and trust
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Basic understanding of Google and Microsoft suite of products and ProPresenter
• Knowledge of current trends in childhood development
• Awareness of the demographics of the families we serve in Whatcom County
• CPR certification is preferred.
