Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

SUMMARY: The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher will facilitate the delivery of special education services by locating, identifying, and serving students with disabilities between the ages of three and five years. This position will require the teacher to travel to multiple sites daily to deliver services outlined in an IEP.  The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher will follow all due process rules and regulations and Cooperative and Early Childhood program policies.

This is a 190 day contract position

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assists with the identification and evaluation of children to determine special education needs


• Participate as a leader or member of the child’s special education team


• Follows due process and special education legal procedures


• Conduct evaluations and draft evaluation reports


• Develop developmentally appropriate IEP goals


• Deliver specialized preschool instruction services in individual and inclusive settings


• Prepares materials for implementing student’s specific goals and objectives


• Collect data and monitor each child’s progress


• Reports quarterly IEP progress


• Assists with Kindergarten transition procedures


• Maintains confidentiality of children’s records 


• Follows child care licensing regulations


• Follows policies and procedures of Arch Ford Cooperative and the Early Childhood Program

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Qualifications include: 

• B.S.E.or higher in Early Childhood Special Education for 3-5 year olds 


• Experience with special education  


• Experience with preschool-age children 


• Strong verbal and written skills 


• Organizational skills, flexibility, independent worker


• Arkansas certification with an initial or standard teaching license 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee must lift heavy supplies, materials, and/or files regularly and carry them to and from sites to vehicles. Daily travel to sites and schools is required, which may cause the employee to encounter different weather conditions while driving. Sitting in a student-sized chair or on the floor with a student may be required. The employee must be able to bend, stoop, walk, and stand for extended periods of time while engaging with preschoolers. The employee should expect to be outside during the day when it is necessary to walk children between classrooms.
