Job Description - Early Childhood Specialist IV

Position Summary


Responsible for providing daily classroom activities designed to provide children with a wide variety of developmental experiences.  Duties shall include, but are not limited to, the following:



Specific Job Duties



  • Implement comprehensive curriculum plans with activities appropriate to the ageand ability level of the group.

  • Maintain compliance with all NC Day Care licensing regulations (ITERS/ECERS),sanitation requirements, Head Start Performance Standards,DPI standards, NCPKregulations, CACFP regulations, and BRCA policies.

  • Observe, document and report to supervisor significant behavior changes andhealth needs.

  • Maintain confidentiality of children’s and parents needs, progress, and records.

  • Maintain daily attendance, accurately noting reasons for absences.

  • Provide a developmentally appropriate environment with positive teacher/childinteraction.

  • Keep anecdotal notes and/or weekly input of anecdotal notes in CC Net.

  • Complete training as specified by the agency.

  • Maintain open and positive communication with parents.

  • Participate in IEP/IFSP meetings, provide appropriate activities and implementIEP/IFSP goals and objectives for children with diagnosed disabilities

  • Complete lesson plans and implement curriculum to Fidelity.

  • Compute daily point-of-service records.

  • Complete screenings as required

  • Complete an educational assessment on each child within 45 days of enrollment.

  • Solicit non-federal donations as required in Head Start regulations and direction from Parent Involvement Manager.

  • Maintain and/or exceed national standards for CLASS scores\

  • Individualize each child’s observations with the outcome to meet or exceed school readiness goals.

  • Obtain/maintain appropriate licensure.

Education


Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Birth-Kindergarten.



Experience


One (2) year verifiable day care experience with children birth-5 years old.


 


SKILLS & ABILITIES


Valid teaching license in Early Childhood content


Must have a valid NC Drivers License


  


Other Requirements 



  • Employee must be able to work 32.5 hours per week.

  • Employee must be able to work as a team.

  • Employee must be able to relate well to a diverse population.

  • Employee must be able to pass a criminal background record check and substance abuse tests.
