Early Head Start Teacher Requirements & Responsibilities:
- Implement Early Head Start services in the Early Head Start classroom according to KOTM and EHS Policy and Procedures and all Head Start Performance Standards.
- Provide quality, developmentally appropriate, responsive infant/toddler care using Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline and other Curriculum.
- Ensure classroom safety through constant Active Supervision and safety checks
- Conduct the daily classroom routines, transitions, Intentional Teaching activities and circle times
- Keep accurate records of children’s meals, nap time and diapering throughout the day
- Maintain appropriate ratios, informing supervisor when there are needs
- Complete weekly lesson plans supporting child goals, disability and ISFP needs
- Conduct ongoing assessments for each child in your classroom
- Conduct a home visit or parent teacher conference each quarter for every child
- Meet EHS deadlines and complete 45-day requirements on newly enrolled children
- Communicate daily with parents about their child in positive and informative ways
- Continue Professional Development by attending monthly EHS training and monthly coaching session
- Coordinate with Early Intervention program for children with an IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan)
- Maintain Confidentiality
- Work cooperatively with the Center-Base Manager, Family Advocate and other EHS staff to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, KOTM Systems, Policies and Procedures, and other regulations both state and local laws.
- Communicate all issues regarding classroom, performance and/or concerns regarding children and/or families to Center-Base Manager
- May have to work a few night events per year, such as Parent Engagement activities
- Support the School Readiness Plan and Parent Committee meetings
- Support attendance by ensuring proper procedure is followed in the classrooms
