Early Intervention Speech Language Pathologist - Lehigh County

This therapist will provide speech therapy services for children from birth through age three with disabilities or special developmental needs, helping them to build on their child's strengths, and to enhance and promote the child's growth, development, and learning skills in their natural environment. Therapy services are provided to infants and toddlers in the home, daycare, or community at the most critical time in a child's life, to address developmental delays in the areas of cognitive, adaptive behavior, social-emotional, self-care, fine motor, gross motor, and communication development. Utilizing a coaching model, caregivers are included in the teaching process, so therapy can carry over in all aspects of the child's routines and environments.

* JOB SUMMARY* Provide rehabilitative services to patients/clients who have reduced communicative or swallow function. Improve functional communication and swallow skills, provide patient/family education and serve as a resource for community services.

* DETERMINES AND/OR FACILITATES DISCHARGE/DISCONTINUATION OF SERVICES* By analyzing achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, planning discharge/discontinuation and providing appropriate home instruction, follow-up or referral.

* RECORDS PATIENT SERVICES* By documenting, dating and authenticating speech therapy examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention and outcomes in accordance with facility and regulatory guidelines.

* By billing for specific interventions provided.

* DEVELOPS AND ENHANCES PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS* By participating in continuing education, reviewing professional publications and providing learning experiences for professional development.

* CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT* By embracing change to achieve common goals, demonstrating willingness to provide service at other sites as necessary, investigating opportunities for new lines of services, contributing to the development of peers and promoting a positive work environment and by accomplishing related results as needed.

* COMPLIES WITH FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LEGAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS* By understanding and adhering to current standards of practice for speech therapy, guide for professional conduct including the code of ethics and practice guidelines established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

* By providing appropriate supervision to speech therapist assistants and students.

* DEVELOPS LEADERSHIP SKILLS* By assisting with supervision of staff, serving as mentor to other staff, proposing, investigating and implementing new methods or problem solving, assisting with program planning, providing input and information for budget development, providing input to and/or delivering staff performance appraisals.

* PROTECTS PATIENT INFORMATION AND CONFIDENTIALITY* By securing all information in confidential space, following facility confidentiality policy.

* EDUCATES STUDENTS AND VOLUNTEERS* By supervising/providing educational experiences, providing instruction with verbal and written feedback to students and clinical institutions and arranging educational events with other staff.
