EPIC Early Learning is currently seeking a reliable Classroom Assistant Floater to join our team. EPIC is a private, nonprofit organization that has been working hand-in-hand with children and families to provide early childhood educational services that strengthen our Central Washington communities for over 45 years. Our mission is to ensure that every child has the best possible start in life by creating a nurturing and supportive environment that promotes their emotional, social, and intellectual growth.
As a Classroom Assistant Floater, you will have the opportunity to work across multiple classrooms within our organization. Your role will be to provide support to teachers in delivering high-quality early childhood education to children. This may include assisting with classroom setup, participating in educational activities, supervising children during playtime, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.
Responsibilities
Support teachers in delivering educational activities and daily routines
Assist in setting up and organizing classrooms
Monitor and engage with children during playtime and activities
Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment
Follow program policies and procedures
Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create a positive learning environment
Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues
Be committed to characterizing a culture of safety within our centers, playgrounds, buses, and anywhere children may be present. Be familiar with and encourage EPIC's culture of "See Something, Say Something"
Willingness to travel to different classrooms as required for coverage.
Perform additional duties as assigned
Must be at least 18 years of age
Valid Washington State Driver's License & Auto insurance
Washington State ECE Initial Certificate or Preschool Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA).
Experience working with young children in a group setting preferred
Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
Able to communicate effectively with children, families, and team members.
Passion for early childhood education and child development
Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and age groups
Basic computer skills required, including the ability to navigate software, email, and online systems
* Candidates who do not meet the minimum education requirements must meet this requirement within a five (5) years of the hire date and will be placed on a Professional Development Plan
Pay Level: $18.37 - $21.68 per hour (non-exempt)
Position Duration: 9 months per year
Position Closes: July 21, 2025
Please note: This Classroom Assistant Floater position is based at the Naches location, 101 Shafer Ave, but may work at other locations throughout Yakima. This role is intended for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Conditions of Employment:
Prior to employment, complete a pre-employment drug screen, Tb skin test by an EPIC approved healthcare provider at no cost to the employee.
Pre-employment basic physical by an EPIC healthcare provider (obtain within (30) days of employment and no cost to the employee).
Must pass an initial and periodic background check through the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF).
Provide proof of MMR vaccination and/ or resistance to Measles, Mumps & Rubella.
Current Food Handlers card (obtain the training within 30 days of employment).
Current First Aid/CPR card (obtain within thirty 30 days of employment).
Complete Child Abuse and Neglect training and all other mandated training.
