Job Description - Echo Cardio Tech

Description

Summary

 While   upholding the Star Valley Health mission, vision, and values, this key   position is responsible for performing a wide variety of cardiac echo   procedures and producing diagnostic-quality images at a technical level not   requiring constant supervision. Technologists perform a variety of technical   procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in   applying ultrasound for radiologic diagnosis. This position will comply with   all Federal, state, and local regulations. This is an at-will position.

     

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of imaging procedures; responsible for patient safety.
  • Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.
  • Participates actively in Performance Improvement, Radiation Safety, Patient Satisfaction, Radiological Patient and Physician Education, Quality Improvement, and Employee Satisfaction efforts. 

Cardiac Echo

  • Performs cardiac echoes according to protocol. 
  • Performs a variety of non-invasive diagnostic cardiology procedures on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. 
  • Uses sonographic imaging to create high-quality images of cardiac structure and function.
  • Processes all Cardiology charges for these exams and prepares exams for physician interpretation and final transcription and reporting.

Exercise Specialist Cardiac Rehab

  • Perform a variety of tasks involving the managing cardiac therapy patients, operation of equipment/devices as appropriate.        
  • Position patients, using immobilization when necessary. Assist physicians.
  • Perform the quality control functions related to cardiac therapy as instructed by referring physicians and cardiologists.        
  • Evaluate therapy processes diagnostic quality.
  • Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate. Explain procedures to patients.
  • Provide orientation, education, and training to new employees.

Abilities & Skills:

  • Strong multi-tasking skills with the ease of changing directions upon request and need.
  • Knowledge of medical ultrasonography and physics.
  • Knowledge of medical center policies, regulations, and procedures in administering radiation and patient care. 
  • The ability to give and evaluate patient care during imaging examinations. 
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to safely administer imaging examinations. 
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.        
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, communicate effectively, and demonstrate sensitivity to clients, visitors, and staff
  • Comply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations as well as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in        client and staff matters
  • Excellent organization and prioritization aptitude.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional oral and written communication.
  • Understand and abide by MQSA and FDA regulations.

 

Experience & Education:

  • Graduation from an ARDMS certified training program.
  • Registered, or Registry eligible, for Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography examination.
  • Must have current BLS card within 3 months of initial employment and maintain current status throughout employment.
  • Additional training in cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
  • Appropriate knowledge of pathologic conditions.
  • Certification in additional modalities such as vascular encouraged
