Echo Tech - Per Diem

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that are required by federal, State, and Local guidelines. The minimum requirements for experience and education are:

• 1 year as an ECHO technologist
• Certification by the RDCS and / or ARRT
• Current BLS certification

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule (Must be available Mondays)
• Must pass all pre-employment screening (background check, drug tests, and references)

CHARACTERISTICS:

As an Echo Technologist, you will play a crucial role in the organization by utilizing advanced ultrasound technology to produce high-quality images of a patient's heart and circulatory system. Your expertise will assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring various cardiac conditions, enabling the delivery of accurate and timely patient care. This role requires a combination of technical proficiency, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient well-being.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS:

Positions in this class are situated in a standard clinical environment where there is little or no exposure to variations in the weather or other similar elements. Physical agility must be such that the Echo Tech is able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time. This position has direct patient contact and calls for the ability to assist frail patients in rising, walking, sitting, and lying down, etc., frequently throughout the course of the shift. The Echo Tech should be able to lift up to 25 pounds repeatedly and 65 pounds intermittently. There is potential exposure to blood, body fluid/tissue, and infectious wastes. There is also potential exposure to radiation, chemicals, and toxicants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform echocardiograms using specialized equipment and techniques.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure, explaining the process and addressing any concerns.
• Accurately position patients and adjust equipment settings to obtain clear and comprehensive images of the heart and related structures.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to determine the specific requirements of each examination and adapt the procedure accordingly.
• Assess and analyze echocardiographic images to identify abnormalities or anomalies, such as valve disorders, heart defects, and cardiac function issues.
• Maintain detailed records of procedures, patient information, and image documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure proper calibration.
• Assist with the implementation of quality control and quality assurance protocols to uphold imaging standards.
• Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with evolving technologies and industry best practices.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the storage and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide valuable insights into patient care plans and treatment options.
