Echo Tech (PRN)

Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT

Perform Ultrasonic vascular and echocardiography procedures, for patients as ordered. Will also perform general exams as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians for their patients.
• Schedule patients. Explain procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
• Position patient, select appropriate transducer depending upon depth of field, structure to be identified (etc. Conduct scanning procedures using Ultrasound equipment. Move probe over specified body area adjust equipment to focus, make hard copy images as directed, document test
• Able to enter exams in the Radiology Information System and PACS.
• Knowledge on which group should interpret exam.
• Ability to send images to Cardiology software and write reports.
• Ability to fill out worksheets for in house interpretation.
• Ability to perform contrast and bubble studies as directed by protocol.
• Comply with established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
• Maintain department records (patient/other), reports, and files as required.
• Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies
• Keep work area clean, alert department director to equipment malfunctions, etc.
• Attend in services and other meetings as required. Must adhere to hospital dress code
• Able to perform stress echos and TEE echos as directed by Cardiologists
• Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance
• Perform other essential duties as assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate of accredited Ultrasound program.
• Registry in ARDMS required and registry in CRDMS preferred or registry eligible.
• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic
• Current BLS is required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
• Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
• Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
• Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
• Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
• Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to life and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
• Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
