ED TECH

Description

*SAFETY SENSITIVE JOB    FULL-TIME  mONDAY - fRIDAY  11PM TO 7AM 

Responsible for the performance of clerical duties, receiving and relaying messages, and serving as a receptionist for the Emergency Department.  Also responsible for various patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.  ED Tech is under the general direction of the ED manager. 

1. Demonstrates knowledge and utilization of communication skills.

2. Maintains the medical records and transcribes physician's orders.

3. Maintains safe environment by monitoring equipment, inventory supplies and organizing work area for optimum flow.

4. Maintains current knowledge of hospital and nursing policies. 

5. Performs EKGs.

6. Performs phlebotomy and skin punctures, performs glucose testing, and receives other biological fluids for testing using established protocols to assure accurate patient diagnostic results.

7. Collects specimens through proper handling protocol to ensure viability of patient specimens, as well as accurate clinical results.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.  One to two years of work experience is preferred.  The applicant must have the ability to use personal computers.  preferred APPLICANT WHO IS IN NURSING SCHOOL.
