Job Description - Editor-in-Chief

Arootah is an early-stage advisory and coaching firm specializing in Alternative Investment & Family Office Advisory, Executive & Leadership Coaching, and Talent Acquisition & Development. Founded by Rich Bello, co-founder and former COO of Blue Ridge Capital, Arootah leverages deep industry expertise to drive peak performance for executives, teams, and firms across the alternative investments landscape.

Developing SaaS applications for enterprise and consumer use 
 
What We Need: 
 
We’re looking for an entrepreneurial Editor-in-Chief to own the end-to-end publishing pipeline including content creation, editorial excellence, sales, distribution, and multimedia monetization for a series of performance-oriented books, masterclasses, and audiobooks. You’ll set the editorial vision, build revenue streams, and ensure every title becomes a multi-format, multi-channel commercial success. 
 

What You’ll Do:

    • Editorial & Content Leadership 
    • Define editorial standards, voice, and style across books, workbooks, masterclasses, and audiobooks. 
    • Edit and approve manuscripts with zero-defect precision, structure content for maximum clarity and impact.
    • Lead a cross-functional team of writers, subject-matter experts, editors,   narrators, proofreaders, and designers.  
    • Incorporate AI-generated drafts and tools to accelerate quality and throughput. 

    • Sales, Distribution & Revenue Growth  
    • Create and execute the go-to-market plan across print, e-book, audiobook, direct-to-consumer, retail, and institutional channels.  
    • Secure and manage relationships with typesetter, printers, wholesalers, online retailers (e.g., Amazon, Ingram), corporate bulk buyers, and international rights partners.  
    • Forecast demand, set pricing, negotiate margins, and track sell-through to hit aggressive revenue targets.  
    • Collaborate with Marketing on campaigns, funnels, and affiliate programs that convert readers into masterclass and coaching clients. 

    • Multimedia Product Development  
    • Oversee production of companion masterclasses (live and on-demand), ensuring curricula align with book IP and coaching frameworks.  
    • Manage end-to-end audiobook creation—casting, narration direction, studio scheduling, post-production, and platform distribution (Audible, Spotify, etc.).  
    • Continuously analyze consumer feedback and data to refine content, upsell paths, and cross-promotion opportunities. 

    • Process & Innovation  
    • Implement robust workflows, editorial calendars, and project-management systems to deliver multiple concurrent titles on time and on budget.  
    • Evaluate and integrate new publishing technologies, AI tools, and data- driven decisioning to keep Arootah at the forefront of modern content commerce. 

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s in English, Journalism, Communications, Publishing, or related field (Master’s a plus).  
    • 7+ years senior editorial experience, including at least 3 years owning P&L, sales, or distribution responsibilities in trade, business, or professional publishing.  
    • Demonstrated success launching best-selling titles and/or premium learning products (masterclass, e-learning, audiobook).  
    • Deep knowledge of book sales channels, inventory logistics, metadata optimization, and rights/licensing.  
    • Proficiency with editorial software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Grammarly, AI writing tools).  
    • Superior project-management, negotiation, and leadership skills.  
$75,000 - $100,000 a year
 •  Base salary $75k – $100k plus performance bonus and equity-like incentives.
