Job Description - Education Coordinator

Description

Summary

While upholding the Star Valley Health mission, vision and values this key position is responsible for the effective management and oversight of the employee education program. The responsibilities encompass coordination with department directors in ensuring certifications are up to date for all employees, education on best practices, and acts as the liaison for health education within the community. This position requires the ability to research nationally published literature and best practices and develop policies and procedures, based on that research. This is an “at will” position. 

Job Duties

  • Develop and regularly update annual training plans for SV Health leadership and staff.
  • Develop and update the Mandatory Annual Regulatory Compliance (MAR) trainings in coordination with Department Directors.
  • Function as organization’s American Heart Association’s Site Coordinator in coordination with the AHA Training Faculty, directing and instructing: CPR, AED, & BLS.
  • Coordinate AHA courses: Heartsaver, RQI, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP classes for staff.
  • Coordinate community CPR, AED, and BLS courses.
  • Maintain AHA and other CPR equipment and order materials as needed.
  • Coordinate off-site trainings for clinical staff as needed.
  • Healthstream administration duties.
  • Coordinate with department directors regarding annual and quarterly trainings and competencies.
  • Coordinate with Instructors of various classes (ie Nursing, CNA, EMT, etc.) to ensure consistency. 
  • Coordinate management training for new and tenured managers (CPI, Vital Smarts, Drug Training etc).  
  • Oversight of the Quality Calendar for the Education Department, updating as needed.
  • Lead in the development and implementation of training for clinical staff regarding current and new PPE or proper PPE procedures. Conduct compliance verification process to ensure compliance with new and existing regulations applicable to the organization.
  • Coordinate with students and their organizations to ensure compliance and consistency prior to activities at the facility; make all necessary arrangements for visiting students with departments directors.
  • Conduct other education related training to organizational leaders as requested.
  • Track and update staff credentials in HRIS and coordinate with department directors/managers to ensure staff are properly credentialed per regulatory requirements. 
  • Review submissions for financial requests and reimbursements, approving based upon SV Health policies. This includes purchases made for equipment and materials, travel and training and applications for the education reimbursement program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as needs arise.

Requirements

Abilities & Skills:

  • Positive attitude

  • Previous experience in developing and implementing training programs.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with the ease of changing directions upon request and needs.
  • Time management and prioritization aptitude.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, communicate effectively, and demonstrate sensitivity to patients, visitors and staff.
  • Knowledge and ability to use training equipment and maintain equipment and schedule equipment maintenance.
  • Advanced proficiency Microsoft Excel knowledge and efficiency of Excel use.
  • Proficient in other Microsoft Office products such as Word, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Proficient in PDF creation and customization of documents.  
  • Confident in their ability to learn new software and be able to problem solve independently. 
  • Comply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations as well as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in patient and staff matters.
  • Interpersonal and problem-solving skills necessary to interact with physicians, Board, leadership, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain clean training environments and use disinfecting cleaners to sanitize training equipment.
  • Will be required to use commonly used PPE like gloves and masks. 
  • Constant sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and computer use throughout the day.

Experience & Education:

Required

  • WY Registered Nurse license or Paramedic license. Robust work experience in professional field.
  • Experience in instructing and training skills and applying education principles. 
  • Current BLS Certification with American Heart Association training.

Preferred

  • Masters degree or bachelors degree 
  • Instructor experience for American Heart Association courses
  • Certification in ACLS, PALS, NRP or other similar certifications
