Education/ Tour Programmer

Reports to: Education Program Coordinator

Under limited supervision, will be responsible for facilitating programming in the Toledo Zoo’s Education Department. This programmer is assigned to the tours area in the department with specific responsibilities: laid out below. This individual would also support educational programming in any area of the education department.

General Job responsibilities:

• Teaching programs at the Zoo and in the community
• Brainstorming and writing tours
• Program/experience set up
• Support animal experiences
• Assist with tracking and evaluating tours use and effectiveness
• Assist in other areas of the department or with other programmers

Area-specific details:

• This team is to provide guests with a great experience during tours
• Provide detailed facts about animals on grounds for tours of various areas
• Collect feedback on public metrics
• Added support 3-4 days a week Sunday – Thursday or Thursday – Saturday with occasional Wednesdays.
• Added support within various areas throughout the department if needed

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must have a valid drivers’ license
• Be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred
