Job Description - Educational Field Trip Manager

Description

The National WWII Museum is currently seeking an Educational Field Trip Manager. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Programs, the Educational Field Trip Manager will oversee the educational elements of the field trip program at the Museum. A pivotal part of the Museum’s strategic plan educational initiatives, the Educational Field Trip Manager will play an instrumental role in shaping the field trip experience for students, teachers, and chaperones. This includes the onsite educational experience as well as support for students and educators pre- and post- field trip visit. The Educational Field Trip Manager oversees field trip staff, who will execute the daily onsite educational activities for field trip groups. The Educational Field Trip Manager also works collaboratively across the education team to support programs, in particular the Museum’s robust summer programming when field trips are in their offseason.

Requirements

  • Collaborate with the team to develop, evaluate, and refine educational elements of Museum field trip experience. This includes both onsite activities and programming and pre-and post- field trip resources delivered to educators.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the educational elements of the field trip program. Work collaboratively with group sales, visitor services, security, and volunteer services to ensure smooth field trip operations and positive onsite experiences for students and Museum visitors alike.
  • Manage field trip staff who execute and support onsite educational field trip programming.
  • Work collaboratively with group sales team to communicate with educators, schools, and districts about the Museum’s field trip program and other educational opportunities for students and teachers. Communicate directly with educators who are booking field trips about the educational elements and to provide additional support for their desired learning outcomes for the experience.
  • Support the Teaching and Learning team on educational initiatives throughout the school year, but especially on the team’s wide array of programming for students and educators during the summer months.
  • Work with Institutional Advancement Department to create funding proposals for field trips and student initiatives.
  • Participate in assigned task forces, staff committees, projects, assignments, tasks, etc. as directed by the Assistant Director of Student Programs, Director of Teaching and Learning, or the Associate Vice President of Education.

Qualifications

  • Direct experience in teaching students in a school setting. Need to be a certified educator.
  • Bachelors required, Masters preferred. Areas of study include education, history or public history, museum education, or related field.
  • Have a good understanding of the current trends, climate, and teaching practices in classrooms today.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills, particularly with K-12 students. Strong customer service skills, with demonstrated comfort and ability interacting with the public.
  • Willingness to work overtime during special events or heavy programmatic or visitation periods or to meet deadlines.
