For over 45 years, Child & Family Development (C&FD) has been a trusted leader in providing comprehensive, integrated and quality services to children and families in the Charlotte area. Established in 1980, we are we are proud to be the region’s longest standing private, outpatient pediatric therapy provider offering a unique, integrated model of care. Our multidisciplinary team includes Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Educational Specialists, Psychologists, Counselors, and an ABA team, as well as a talented client support team all working together to provide exceptional services to children and families. We’ve built a culture where clinicians are valued for their knowledge and expertise and encouraged to develop the skills and areas of specialization that truly excite them.
Responsibilities Include:
An Educational Specialist provides comprehensive educational services to clients of Child and Family Development, including but not limited to: diagnostic evaluations, educational treatment, consultation, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and community-based advocacy.
An educator develops and maintains a broad range of evaluative competencies to assess learning disabilities of the child. They administer national normed achievement measurements including WIAT-4 and WJ-IV as well as scoring, interpretation and report writing. They work with clinical psychologists to develop quality recommendations for children and families. They provide educational therapy services to address concerns related to learning disabilities and executive functioning weaknesses. They provide consultative services and advocate for clients in the community and schools. Master’s degree with experience in special education is required. Competencies with administration of academic achievement measures (WIAT4, WJ-IV) is preferred. Knowledge of public and private school accommodation plans preferred.
