How you’ll Contribute

The Education Coordinator functions under the general supervision of the Chief Clinical Officer and is considered part of the nursing management team. The Clinical Educator assumes responsibility for all activities related to assessment, coordination, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs to patient care staff and collaborates with others to provide facility-wide programs. The Clinical Educator supports the development of the bedside care provider and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced-based nursing practice and is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission of Hospital Sisters Health System Rehabilitation Hospital.

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides patient and family teaching throughout the rehabilitation stay and prior to discharge.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Works cooperatively and actively participate with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Participates in Continuous Quality and Performance Improvement (CQPI).
• Drives and assumes ownership of Infection Control Plan and activities in the hospital.
• Exercises independent judgement in analyzing and trending infection data and creates a plan to reduce and prevent infections.
• Functions as the content expert on Infection Prevention and Control for the hospital including determining course of action, planning, implementing and ensuring compliance to the plan.
• Develops the annual hospital wide Infection Control Plan; evaluates the effectiveness of the program and reports findings to leadership and appropriate committees.
• Assures systems are in place to report infection surveillance, prevention and control information to:
•            o    Appropriate staff in the hospital
•        o    Federal, state and local public health authorities in accordance with law and regulation
•            o    Accrediting bodies
•        o    Other referring or receiving hospitals or organizations needing information regarding the presence of infection in a patient received or transferred
• Identifies potential sources of nosocomial infection and implements actions to eliminate the source; and evaluates infection data to distinguish between nosocomial and community-acquired infection.
• Other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and skills:

• Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
• Current state licensure as Registered Nurse.
• CPR/BCLS certification. ACLS preferred.
• CRRN Preferred
• Minimum six months’ Medical/Surgical experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
