Educator - Santa Fe

As part of the small and dynamic Cooking with Kids team, you’ll be responsible for organizing, scheduling and conducting program activities that encourage healthy food choices and provide opportunities for interdisciplinary learning. You will work closely with the Cooking with Kids Program Director, school site staff and school district cafeteria personnel. Being an active and involved team member will help you succeed in this role. Our team values patience, and strong communication, being friendly, outgoing and approachable with both children and teaching staff and independent leaders!

We Want to Hear from You if You Have:

• An outgoing personality and passion for sharing nutrition knowledge


• Experience working in a classroom setting conducting classes or providing community outreach


• Experience working with grade school aged children

It Would be Great if You Also Have:

• Experience as an educator


• Experience in the food industry and/or working with food

Successful Candidates will have:

High School Diploma

One year of experience in a field related to nutrition and/or work with children

A valid driver’s license

Requirement to pass background check before employment begins

Ability to use email and text to communicate with staff and have basic computer skills

Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, in addition to excellent verbal and written communications skills

Bonus Points for:

Bilingual Spanish/English Speaking

Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in a relevant field such as nutrition, education, public health, or other related area

About the Role

As a Cooking with Kids Educator, you’ll be part of a highly-skilled team who supports the education and empowerment of children and families to make healthy food choices through hands-on learning with fresh and affordable foods. Some of your tasks may include:

· Teaching classes, implementing cafeteria promotions and classroom tastings in coordination with the needs of the school

· Using Cooking with Kids Curriculum for classroom instruction, and adapting teaching and classroom management skills to grade level, teaching styles, and classroom settings

· Establishing and maintaining positive, effective relationships with all school personnel, cafeteria managers and staff, students, peers, parents, and community

About the Team

Cooking with Kids provide fun and positive experiences with healthy foods and give kids confidence in the kitchen, helps school cafeterias use local food, cook from scratch, and successfully introduce new foods into the lunchroom, and builds classroom-to-kitchen bridges that support healthy eating efforts at home.

Since its inception in 1995, Cooking with Kids serves over 6,000 children in Northern New Mexico every year.
