EE Commissioning Lead Engineer is responsible for software updating, configuration management, verification and software readiness VinFast engineering and test vehicles.
This position supports CTF, vehicle validation, quality investigation, ADAS, InR and other engineering activities by ensuring that test vehicles are maintained required software baseline and configuration before testing.
Role requires hands-on work with vehicles, engineering diagnostic tools, software flashing/update systems, vehicle networks and internal engineering processes.
Key responsibilities
Perform software updates, flashing, reprogramming and configuration VinFast engineering and test vehicles
Update vehicle ECUs/ECMs and other electronic control modules using approved VinFast engineering and diagnostic tools
Perform vehicle OTA and workshop-based software updates according engineering requirements
Prepare vehicles with required software baseline before CTF, validation, ADAS and engineering testing
Verify software versions and vehicle configuration before and after software updates
Confirm successful installation and correct operation updated software
Perform post-update vehicle health checks and basic functional verification
Identify and troubleshoot software update failures, communication errors, ECU programming issues and configuration mismatches
Perform basic diagnostics using DTCs, ECU status, logs and vehicle network information
Collect logs and technical information when software installation or vehicle functionality issues occur
Escalate software-related issues to appropriate engineering teams with clear technical information and supporting evidence
Maintain accurate records of vehicle software versions, update history, configuration, update status and identified issues
Track software readiness of the engineering/test fleet and provide regular status updates to CTF management and engineering teams
Coordinate software update activities with CTF, ADAS, InR, R&D, and other engineering teams
Follow approved software release, configuration management and vehicle update procedures
Ensure that only approved software packages and configurations are installed on engineering vehicles
Support urgent software updates and vehicle preparation for critical engineering tests when required
Maintain software update equipment, diagnostic devices, laptops, interfaces, cables, adapters and related engineering tools
Support development and continuous improvement of vehicle software update procedures and documentation
Ensure compliance with safety requirements when working with electric vehicles and vehicle electrical/electronic systems
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering or related technical field; equivalent relevant automotive experience may be considered
Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics, ECU programming, vehicle software updates or vehicle electrical/electronic systems
Understanding modern vehicle electronic architecture and ECU-based systems
Basic knowledge automotive communication networks such as CAN etc
Experience using automotive diagnostic or engineering tools
Ability to read and understand DTCs, diagnostic reports, ECU information and software version data
Strong computer skills and ability to work with engineering software and Windows/Linux-based diagnostic applications
Ability to follow technical procedures accurately and maintain detailed records
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage software updates across multiple vehicles
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to safely operate test vehicles
Readiness for business trips
Preferred qualification
Experience working with electric vehicles (EV)
Experience with automotive OEM, R&D, vehicle validation, test fleet, prototype fleet or engineering workshop operations
Experience with ECU flashing/programming and vehicle configuration management
Knowledge of CAN, CAN FD or similar automotive communication protocols
Experience with vehicle diagnostic and data-logging tools
Experience with OTA software update processes
Understanding software release management and vehicle software baselines
Experience with Jira or similar issue-tracking systems
High-voltage EV safety training or certification is preferred
