Position: EEG Technician
Shift Schedule: Night 4x10-Hour (21:00 - 07:30)

Position Summary:
Year of experience required: 2 years
*Certifications Required: REEGT, BLS
*Will accept first time travelers
Float Required: Pediatric, Adult Epilepsy Monitoring Unit to STAT Long Term Monitoring EEG’s (usually called for by ICU or NICU).
Skills Required:10-20 EEG Hookup, acquisition and software troubleshooting, ability to read basic EEG data and follow seizure protocols. Ability to identify artifact and fix by replacing electrodes/troubleshooting. Able to mark and clip data for physician review in the morning. Contacts on-call physician only for clinical parameters set with physician regarding patient. Communicates with physicians and supervisor well.
Position will be within the Neurophysiology department.
Office of Neurophysiology and adult EMU are located on 4NW.
The pediatric EMU is in Guerin’s children’s hospital. Both units have 4 hardwired rooms.
We use Nihon Kohden in both EMU’s and Natus for our floor patients.
EEG Tech will monitor patient safety and data for seizures, contact the nurse if seizure detected. Notate on patient study appropriate information. Will work in conjunction with monitoring company to monitor multiple patients. Will ask the monitoring company to take over monitoring when there is a STAT hook up in hospital or when breaks are needed. Will communicate with reading fellow and physician when STAT study is up and running.
Procedure Types: Routine EEGs, Long Term Monitoring EEG’s.
Equipment used: Nihon Kohden and Natus
Skills Preferred: Phase 2 experience, not required but preferred.
The EEG Technician is responsible for performing routine and specialized electroencephalographic (EEG) studies under the direction of a physician. The role includes preparing patients, operating EEG equipment, ensuring accurate data collection, and assisting in the interpretation of results. The position requires availability for on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate emergency and after-hours procedures.
