EH&S Representative

Position Summary:

Talent Source is hiring an EH&S Representative (Safety / Gas Free) to support environmental, health, and safety programs in shipyard and industrial environments. This position is responsible for performing gas-free testing, issuing certifications, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, NAVSEA, and client-specific safety requirements to protect personnel, vessels, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct gas-free inspections and atmospheric testing in confined spaces, tanks, voids, and hot-work areas.

• Issue and maintain Gas Free Certificates prior to hot work or confined space entry.

• Monitor oxygen levels, flammable vapors, and toxic gases using calibrated detection equipment.

• Enforce OSHA, Cal/OSHA, NAVSEA, and shipyard safety standards.

• Perform safety audits, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and toolbox safety talks.

• Identify unsafe conditions and exercise stop-work authority when necessary.

• Assist with incident investigations and corrective action tracking.

• Maintain accurate safety documentation, permits, and inspection logs.

• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and trades personnel to ensure safe work practices.

• Support emergency response procedures and drills.

• Promote and reinforce a strong on-site safety culture.

Required Qualifications:

• Safety Gas Free Certification (required).

• 2+ years of experience in shipyard, maritime, or industrial EH&S.

• Strong knowledge of confined space entry, hot work, and atmospheric testing.

• Working knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations.

• Ability to communicate effectively with trades, supervision, and management.

• Strong documentation and reporting skills.

• Ability to work aboard vessels and in industrial environments.

• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening (shipyard requirement).

Travel & Compensation Details:

• Hourly position.

• Pay range: $27 – $32 per hour.

• Schedule may include extended shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime based on operational needs.

• Work performed in shipyard and industrial environments.
