Job Description - Election Impact Organizer - GA

Description

The Black to the Future Action Fund is a 501(c)(4) that works to transform Black communities into constituencies that build independent, progressive Black political power in cities and states, enacting policy that improves the lives of Black people so that Black people have what all people deserve — dignity, safety, and power. This is a shared position with its sister organization, Black Futures Lab, a 501(c)(3) that transforms Black communities into constituencies that wield independent political power at the municipal, state, and federal levels.

The problems Black communities face are complex, and the solutions require imagination, experimentation, and political power. Together, we combine strategies that help us imagine the alternatives we deserve with the organizing that builds the power to make them real.

Election Impact Organizers are part of a team of social justice advocates who inform and mobilize voters through door-to-door canvassing, phone and text banking, social media, and community events. Our goal is to impact the 2026 General Election by engaging Black voters on the issues that matter most to them and energizing them to head to the polls. Election Impact Organizers report directly to the Election Impact Team Leader.

 What You’ll Do:

  • Reach voters daily with election-related messaging through door-to-door canvassing, phone and text banking, social media posts, and community events and meetings
  • Enter voter data accurately into MiniVAN
  • Complete accurate daily reports
  • Follow the provided script and share accurate information with residents
  • Meet the required number of voter contacts per shift
  • Stay informed about the political issues relevant to the campaign

This job description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties, responsibilities, or activities, which may change at any time with or without notice.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with a positive, enthusiastic approach to engaging Black voters across a range of social and economic backgrounds
  • Reliability and follow-through — arriving on time and prepared at staging locations, events, and meetings
  • Comfort using a smartphone, web browser, and the MiniVAN app to record voter responses, send texts, make calls, and submit social media posts (a personal smartphone compatible with MiniVAN, able to send texts and take photos, is required)
  • Ability to read a map and follow an assigned route
  • Flexibility and adaptability as the needs of the Election Impact Team change
  • Willingness to attend mandatory orientation and all trainings

Helpful, but not required:

  • Previous experience with a campaign, community organization, sales, or customer service
  • Existing relationships with local community groups and organizations
  • Bilingual English–Spanish or English–Haitian Creole

Physical Requirements:

  • This role can be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Door-to-door canvassing involves walking a precinct of roughly 10–12 city blocks, standing or walking for up to about 4 hours per shift in varying weather, and carrying up to 10 pounds
  • Phone and text banking involves working through call and text lists using a provided script

Travel:

  • Organizers are responsible for getting themselves to assigned staging locations and turf. A valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle during working hours is required.
  • If you choose to use a personal vehicle and would like mileage reimbursement, a valid driver's license and proof of insurance are required, and reimbursement is provided at the federal mileage rate.

Position Type and Compensation:

    • Part-time, temporary, non-exempt (hourly)
    • Estimated late August through early November 2026
    • Up to 25 hours per week
    • $22.00 per hour
    • Mileage reimbursement available at the federal mileage rate for approved personal-vehicle use

Equal Employment Opportunity:

Black Futures Lab and Black to the Future Action Fund are committed to providing equal employment opportunities and supporting an inclusive environment for all applicants. If you require reasonable accommodations during the application or interview process, please reach out to us at [email protected]. We are here to ensure that all applicants can participate fully and fairly in our hiring process.

How to Apply:

Ready to help mobilize voters and build power this election season? We'd love to hear from you! The application is short — no resume needed. You'll just share your contact information, a bit about why this work matters to you, and any relevant experience you'd like to highlight. We accept and review applications on a rolling basis until our positions are filled, so we encourage you to apply early.
