Electric Utility Substation Engineer

As a Substation Engineer for Welty Energy, you will provide engineering oversight on client substation projects, provide technical assistance to the Welty Project Management Team as requested, represent the client and provide best-in-class service while also consulting on select projects where your expertise and guidance is requested.

Responsibilities can include:

• Perform quality reviews on client substation projects designed by contracted engineering firms, focusing on one-line and three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, communication schemes, physical drawings, and perform spot-check on wiring diagrams.


• Verify projects are following all applicable client standards.


• Provide guidance to engineering firms on projects.


• Perform site visits when necessary.


• Interface with client’s engineering groups and project management team to provide regular and timely updates.


• Consult on internal projects when requested by the Director, Project and Portfolio Management.

• Share knowledge and train oncoming Project Engineers.


• Establish trust and healthy rapport with client and contract engineer firms.


• Collaborate with Management Team to foster a productive and encouraging environment.

Education/Experience:

• Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET accredited university


• 5+ years of experience as a Substation Engineer


• EIT Certification with the intention to pursue PE license


• PE License Preferred

Travel:

• 10-15% travel (project specific)
