This is a role for someone who wants their hands on the whole plant, not just one line. You'll provide electrical, instrumentation, and controls expertise across paper machine operations, secondary fiber processing, automated warehouse systems, effluent treatment, and boiler & utility systems at a growing paper packaging manufacturer. If you want variety in your troubleshooting and real visibility into how a facility runs end to end, this is that kind of position.
Why You'll Love This Role
You'll work directly with PLCs, HMIs, drives, and other control systems — assessing, programming, and repairing them rather than just monitoring dashboards. You'll be the go-to resource operations and maintenance turn to when something needs to be diagnosed and fixed, not just flagged.
You'll also get exposure to capital projects, supporting new instrumentation and control device installations from the ground up, and to reliability programs including thermography, ultrasound, and motor and power analysis. Relocation assistance is available if you're coming from outside the area.
What Your Week Looks Like
Navigating process control systems and field devices across multiple plant areas
Diagnosing and repairing PLC, HMI, drive, and control system issues as they come up
Backing up programs and keeping documentation, schematics, and drawings current as systems change
Supporting capital project installations of new instrumentation and controls
Working shutdowns for fabric changes and maintenance alongside the E&I and reliability teams
Running reliability checks — thermography, ultrasound, motor and power analysis
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or a related field — or a vocational certificate/diploma in electronic controls, instrumentation, or as a technician. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
1-3+ years as an electrical maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment; paper or other industrial manufacturing background preferred
Strong troubleshooting ability across electrical sensors, switches, controllers, instrumentation, transmitters, automated valves, calibrations, industrial communications, robotics, motion control, and AC/DC control power
Programming experience creating, monitoring, and modifying PLC and DCS control logic
Comfortable coordinating with plant personnel, engineering groups, and outside contractors
Self-motivated, able to work autonomously
Why Candidates Say Yes
Breadth: you're not confined to one system — you'll touch paper machine operations, fiber processing, warehouse automation, effluent treatment, and utilities
Real ownership of capital project installations, not just maintenance tickets
A growing operation with relocation support for the right candidate
Autonomy — this role is built for someone who doesn't need to be micromanaged
