Job Description - Electrical Controls Engineer

Job Details:

The Electrical and Controls Engineer will assist the Richmond plant in meeting or exceeding stated operational, environmental, and safety goals.

Location: Richmond, Indiana

Travel: Requires travel (10%)

Responsibilities:

  1. Ability to perform power, electrical & control systems engineering for all aspects of projects.
  2. Prepares and reviews technical electrical specifications for equipment, processes and projects.
  3. Troubleshoot and correct operational issues
  4. Participate in/lead root cause corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence of issues.
  5. Provide on-call support to plant operations for electrical and controls issues.
  6. Assist in review and implementation of Corporate Specifications and Standards.
  7. Track and prioritize issues in conjunction with other departments.
  8. Prepares and reviews technical electrical specifications for equipment and processes projects.
  9. Assist facility with manufacturing operations as well as execution of electrical safety initiatives.
  10. Maintain good communication with management and project customers regarding project status, problems, and changes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology
  2. 3 years of experience in control systems or discrete manufacturing environment.
  3. Demonstrated electrical and control system engineering capabilities.
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide solutions to basic project and process engineering problems.
  5. Solid knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications (including programming) along with communications within enterprise and control networked systems.
  6. Knowledge of DCS/SCADA systems
  7. Must be able to read/understand electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  8. Demonstrated knowledge in the application of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace – arc flash energy and shock hazards.
  9. Ability to manage and support multiple (1-3) projects simultaneously
  10. Demonstrated success managing projects $50k – $200k
  11. Must possess good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ideally:

  1. 50% firefighting % 50 projects
  2. CI on our electrical project
  3. Process control experience would be great – driving improvement in water and compressed air systems.
  4. Providing back up to the other EE.
  5. Allen Bradley – needs to have great understanding – device net/control net experience
  6. Would like someone with controls knowledge & control networked systems (industrial networking).
  7. DCS/SCADA – controls people with know (ignition/Wonderware) general understanding
