We are seeking a seasoned Electrical / Controls Manager to lead a team of electrical hardware engineers within a fast-growing automation and material handling organization. This is a direct hire, permanent placement opportunity for a senior engineering leader ready to make a lasting impact.
The Electrical / Controls Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the full electrical hardware engineering group — driving technical standards, managing team performance, and ensuring the successful delivery of electrical design across multiple concurrent automation projects. This position is ideal for an experienced engineering leader with deep roots in electrical hardware or controls systems and a genuine passion for building and developing high-performing technical teams.
● Lead, manage, and develop a team of Electrical Hardware Engineers across multiple simultaneous projects
● Oversee electrical system design deliverables including schematics, panel layouts, power calculations, cable routing, and wiring documentation
● Set and enforce technical standards, design guidelines, and quality benchmarks for the electrical hardware group
● Collaborate with project managers, controls engineers, and mechanical engineering leads to ensure integrated, on-schedule project execution
● Manage resource allocation across the electrical hardware team to align with project schedules and shifting priorities
● Conduct technical reviews of electrical designs, bills of materials (BOMs), and installation packages
● Support recruiting, onboarding, and professional development of engineering team members
● Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex electrical hardware challenges
● Engage with clients and project stakeholders to communicate electrical design approach and resolve technical questions
● Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and design efficiency across the electrical engineering group
● Significant experience in electrical hardware engineering or controls systems engineering, with demonstrated career progression into leadership or management roles
● Proficiency in electrical system design fundamentals, including schematics, control panel design, power distribution, and AutoCAD Electrical
● Proven ability to lead, mentor, and grow engineering teams in a fast-paced project environment
● Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
● Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to engineering teams and executive stakeholders alike
● Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and engineering resources simultaneously
● Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline required; advanced degree a plus
● 8+ years of electrical or controls engineering experience, with 3+ years in a team lead or management capacity
● Background in material handling, automation, sortation, distribution center, or industrial systems environments strongly preferred
● Experience managing design deliverables and engineering quality across a multi-person team
● Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical, NEC codes, UL standards, and relevant industry compliance requirements
