The Role

Harris Group is seeking an Electrical Designer in our Portland region, The Electrical Designer works closely with our professional engineers to design and document power distribution systems, motor control, standby power, and lighting. The Electrical Designer can be engaged in designs for industrial facilities, studies, client site support, and a wide variety of other tasks that help our clients to be more successful. This role may work independently on design projects but usually takes direction from an engineer or a senior designer. The Electrical Designer will work on projects within many industrial sectors, including aerospace, energy, life sciences, and chemicals sectors.  

The Responsibilities

• Apply electrical engineering fundamentals to prepare design documents under the supervision of engineers and senior design staff.


• Perform calculations as well as operate various software related to the design, as directed by the engineers and project managers.


• Setup drawing files and architectural backgrounds to company standards.


• Prepare studies, perform field surveys, document existing conditions, and/or recommend design solutions.


• Work cooperatively with others to produce a coordinated set of design documents (drawings, lists, spreadsheets, etc.) conforming to project standards.


• Develop equipment and construction specification documents.


• Develop plans for lighting, power, and grounding.


• Develop schematics and wiring diagrams for motor controls, process controls and building systems controls

The Requirements

Associate degree or technology certificate, and five years of electrical design or detailing experience; or eight years of electrical design experience.

• Proficient with electrical design techniques including proper layout and detailing conventions; properly coordinate drawing presentation with calculation and specification data.


• Proficient with MSOffice, REVIT and AutoCAD. Skill with AGI32, SKM, or Easy Power is desirable.


• Travel to client locations and/or accept client site assignments when required.


• Ability to pass Client badging and screening processes.

Benefits

• Rate: $38-$45/hour depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
