Under the guidance of the Project Manager and the Senior Electrical Engineer, the

Electrical Designer

shall provide and implement design solutions that meet the requirements of the project.

Responsibilities

Design of power, lighting, communications, and fire alarm systems for commercial and government projects
Perform various engineering studies to include the generation of Arc-Flash, Fault Current, and Breaker Coordination studies utilizing SKM software.
Site investigations
Potential limited domestic and overseas travel
Coordination with prime consultants and general contractors
Coordination with sub-consultants and in-house electrical engineers
LEED documentation generation
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Minimum one (1) year of Electrical Engineering experience
Minimum one (1) year of Electrical Design experience in public and/or private electrical systems Preferred
EIT or FE certificate Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the technical control and distribution of power through electrical systems
Knowledge and understanding of the regulatory building and safety codes that relate to their electrical systems
Ability to utilize design software in a comprehensive manner and able to interpret and implement results
Knowledge of local and national codes
Ability to interpret and help resolve code questions
Ability to provide construction oversight and provide construction support
Strong knowledge of MS Office including Excel, Word, and standard office software
AutoCAD proficient
Revit proficient
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to travel to customer project sites
Ability to navigate design challenges and generate effective solutions Preferred
Ability to develop drawings and specifications that clearly convey design intent Preferred
Ability to draft construction documents from conceptual design to the final product Preferred
